Re: PPI Success
Great aint it! Yes I know strictly it is money we have paid out but when you have forgotten about it and got on with life it is like a windfall.

Time for some holiday planning me thinks.

Re: PPI Success
Do people use a third party? No need to at all, why pay a company to do the "work" when you can do it yourself with a free template on line - my claim took 10 minutes

Re: PPI Success
anyone who uses a claims company to get theirs is a total mug.

Re: PPI Success
Looking at it from my side. Bough, I would have filled out 13 or so different claims forms for £75. Fuck that. My time is worth more than that, and I doubt I would have pursued it to the ombudsman, so those ice people in Wales have earnt their £25 (so far...)

Re: PPI Success
I used a template letter, changed account numbers on each copy, took copies for myself, sent claims off. Maybe not 10 mins but in total took me around an hour all in.

Re: PPI Success
No, I declined PPI when it was offered to me because I thought it sounded like a rip off. I would feel smug but...

Re: PPI Success
Did a claim about 3/4 years ago . Template letter off Martin Lewis site . Forgot about it . About 3 months later got a call from the Halifax asking if I had anything to add . Told them it was all in the letter I sent . Told me I’d have £3.5k in my account within 24 hours . Thanks very much !

Re: PPI Success
Barclays, more or less volunteered when I closed a current account. They sent a final statement and my monthly payment for "Overdraft fee" changed to "Overdraft protection insurance".
Gave them a call and was put through to their PPI office. A month later I got a cheque for 8.5 grand (compound interest is wonderful). I'd been paying this for a decade without knowing..

Johnson

my sister used one of these claims companies recently. she'd had god knows how many credit cards and loans over the years and had virtually no details for any of them dating back 15 or more years. she just told the company which cards etc she had and roughly when she had them and they did the rest. she got back thousands.

I got zilch. It turns out that not being stupid doesn’t always pay.

Re: PPI Success
I'm using one of them claim companies at the moment. Sent it all off last week. Was originally gonna do it myself but haven't got any details of loans etc from 15 years ago and couldn't be arsed with it. They're checking out SERPS as well.

Re: PPI Success
Got £800 so far.
£500 from Barclays
£300 from Halifax.... but I'm taking them through ombundsman as they said they "over aggressively sold me ppi" and that's the commission. They neglected to give my actual cash back. So let's see what the ombundsman says about it

One of the governments better ideas to get people to voluntarily offer up all sorts or personal information about their private lives.
